Commitment
Accessibility
An emergency service is no use if people cannot reach it. This page covers both the website and the service itself.
This website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. In practice that means semantic headings and landmarks, text alternatives for meaningful images, colour contrast that meets the AA ratio, keyboard-operable navigation, visible focus indicators, and layouts that reflow on small screens and at 200% zoom.
We test with keyboard-only navigation and at a range of screen sizes. We do not claim perfection; where we find a gap, we fix it.
Contacting us
Every page carries a phone number and an email address. If neither suits you, the National Relay Service can connect you to us: relayservice.gov.au. For interpreting assistance, the Translating and Interpreting Service is available on 131 450 and can call us on your behalf.
On site
- Tell us on the phone if you need us to knock rather than ring, to announce ourselves in a particular way, or to speak with a support person or family member.
- We can discuss hardware options that are easier to operate with limited grip or reduced vision — lever handles, thumb-turns, larger key bows and keypad locks.
- Written quotes and invoices can be provided in larger text on request at no charge.
