Workmanship Warranty

A warranty is only useful if it says clearly what it does and does not cover. Here is ours.

Last updated: 3 August 2026. Provided by Urgent Locksmith Thomastown, 350 Settlement Rd, Thomastown VIC 3074.

What is covered

  • Workmanship: 12 months. If hardware we installed fails because of how it was fitted or adjusted, we return and correct it at no charge for labour or travel.
  • Parts: manufacturer's warranty. Hardware we supply carries the manufacturer's warranty, commonly one to several years depending on the brand and product. We tell you the applicable period at the time of quoting and note it on your invoice.
  • Warranty labour. Where a part we supplied fails within the first 12 months, we cover the labour to replace it as well as the part.

What is not covered

  • Damage from forced entry, vandalism, accident, fire or storm.
  • Normal wear on moving parts, or a door or frame moving with the seasons or the building settling. We can adjust these as a chargeable service call.
  • Work performed by someone else on hardware we installed.
  • Hardware you supplied yourself — that warranty sits with your supplier.
  • Faults we identified in writing before the work, that you chose not to have repaired.
  • Lack of basic maintenance, such as lubrication of exposed exterior locks.

Keeping hardware healthy

Locks last far longer with a small amount of care: a dry graphite or PTFE-based lubricant in the cylinder once or twice a year, no oil-based sprays that attract grit, and a hinge check when the door starts to catch. Never force a key that resists — that is how keys snap inside cylinders.

Making a claim

  1. Contact us with your invoice number and a description of the fault: admin@urgentlocksmiththomastown.com or +61 3 7067 9694.
  2. We acknowledge within two business days and book an inspection where needed.
  3. If the fault is covered, we repair or replace at no charge. If it turns out not to be covered, we tell you why and quote the repair before doing anything.

This is in addition to your legal rights
