Residential Locksmith

From a single sticking deadlatch to securing an entire home after settlement, our residential work covers supply, installation, repair and adjustment of domestic locking hardware.

Home security work we handle

Most homes accumulate a mix of locks fitted over decades. The result is often a front door with a good deadbolt, a back door with a worn latch, and windows with hardware that no longer engages. We look at the property as a whole rather than one door in isolation.

  • Deadbolt and deadlatch supply and installation
  • Screen and security door locks
  • Sliding door and window locks
  • Keyed-alike setups so one key opens several doors
  • Digital and keypad entry locks for households tired of hiding spare keys
  • Lock changes after moving in, separating or losing keys

Moving into a new home

You rarely know how many copies of your new keys exist. Previous owners, tradespeople, cleaners, family members and former tenants may all have had one at some point. Rekeying the existing locks is usually enough and costs less than replacing hardware.

If the existing locks are worn, non-compliant or simply poor quality, we will say so and give you a cost for replacement so you can decide.

Renters and landlords

Victorian residential tenancy rules place obligations on both renters and rental providers regarding locks and keys. In general, locks should not be changed without the other party's consent except in specific circumstances such as family violence orders.

We can invoice a rental provider or agent directly where that has been arranged, and we supply full documentation of the work carried out.

Common questions

Should I rekey or replace my locks?
Rekey when the hardware is sound and you only need old keys to stop working. Replace when the lock is worn, damaged, low quality or does not suit the door.
Do you supply the locks or should I buy them?
Either works. We carry common quality hardware in the van, but we are happy to fit hardware you have already purchased — note that warranty on those parts then sits with your supplier.
