Privacy Policy
Security work involves sensitive information about your property. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated: 3 August 2026. This policy applies to Urgent Locksmith Thomastown, of 350 Settlement Rd, Thomastown VIC 3074 ("we", "us"). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Name, phone number, email address and service address.
- Details of the work requested and performed, including lock and hardware types and, for automotive work, vehicle details.
- Evidence of entitlement sighted at the time of the job — for example that a licence or lease was shown. We record that verification occurred rather than retaining copies, unless retention is required by law.
- Payment records and invoices. Card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
- Correspondence you send us, including emails, quote requests and complaints.
- Basic technical information when you visit this website, such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from your IP address.
Why we collect it
- To quote, schedule, perform and invoice locksmith work.
- To verify that a person requesting access is entitled to it.
- To honour warranty claims and respond to complaints.
- To meet record-keeping, taxation and locksmith licensing obligations.
- To improve the security and performance of this website.
Sensitive security information
Information about how a property is secured, which locks are fitted and when a premises is unoccupied is treated as confidential. Access within our business is limited to people who need it to perform or invoice the work. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone, and we do not use your details for third-party marketing.
Who we may share it with
- Our accounting, invoicing and payment providers, for the purpose of processing your transaction.
- An owner, managing agent or insurer where you have asked us to invoice or report to them.
- Law enforcement or a regulator where we are required or authorised by law to do so — including reporting where we reasonably suspect an attempt to obtain unlawful access to a property or vehicle.
We do not routinely disclose personal information overseas. Some service providers we use (for example email and website hosting) may store data outside Australia; we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses only what is necessary to serve pages and keep them working. If we later add analytics or advertising cookies, we will update this policy and provide a means of consenting before non-essential cookies are set. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.
How long we keep information
Job and invoice records are retained for at least seven years to meet taxation and business record obligations, and for the duration of any warranty period. Enquiries that do not proceed to a job are generally deleted within 24 months.
Security
We store records in access-controlled systems, use reputable providers, and limit staff access to what is necessary. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy, or ask us to correct it. Email admin@urgentlocksmiththomastown.com with enough detail to identify yourself. We will respond within 30 days. If we refuse access or correction, we will explain why in writing.
Complaints about privacy
Send privacy complaints to admin@urgentlocksmiththomastown.com. We will acknowledge within five business days and aim to resolve within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page with its last-updated date.
